Resilient Sound Isolation Clip (RSIC-1)
The decoupling half of a soundproof wall. Mass alone won't get you there.
A steel clip with a rubber grommet that carries hat channel off the framing, so the drywall never touches the studs. Sold individually.
What this fixes
Screw drywall straight to a stud and the stud becomes a direct path for sound into the next room. You can add all the mass you want and that path stays open — it's why some heavily built walls still leak bass.
Resilient clips break the connection. The clip mounts to the framing, hat channel snaps into the clip, and drywall attaches to the channel. The rubber grommet is the only link between the two, and it absorbs the vibration instead of passing it along. Decoupling plus added mass is what actually produces a quiet wall.

Load and spacing
An RSIC-1 supports up to two layers of 5/8" drywall when studs are spaced 24" × 48" on center or tighter. Two layers of 5/8" is the standard high-performance theater wall, so this clip is rated for the build most people are attempting.
Important: RSIC clips are designed to work with hat channel. They are not intended for use with RC-8 resilient channel. Mixing the two systems is a common and expensive mistake — confirm which channel you're buying before you order clips.
