What this fixes

A plain floor in a dark room is a liability. Every dropped popcorn kernel, every ring from a glass, every worn track between the door and the seats shows up — and in a theater you're looking at that floor with the lights up between films.

A large ornate print does the opposite: it breaks up the surface so soil and wear read as part of the pattern rather than as damage. Acanthus is the most forgiving pattern here for exactly that reason, which is why it's the safe pick for a room that gets real use.

Pattern scale is the thing people get wrong. Acanthus repeats every 40.5 inches in both directions, which is a large-scale print.

Nine colorways, and what that's actually for

Most theater patterns come in three or four colors. Acanthus comes in nine, which matters if you're matching an existing wall color, seating leather, or an acoustic panel fabric you've already chosen.

Black, Burgundy and Navy are the traditional cinema choices and hide the most. Charcoal, Smoke, Dove, Morning Fog and Pebbles open the room up if you're working with a lighter, more contemporary space — just know that lighter carpet shows more, and reflects more screen light.

Why theater carpet, not household carpet

Residential carpet is built for foot traffic in a hallway. Theater carpet is built for a room where people eat, drink and spill in the dark, then leave the same chairs parked in the same spots for years.

Premium WearOn® Nylon resists soil, stains, wear and matting, and the printed pattern hides the crumbs and drink rings that a plain cut pile puts on display. The dark, low-sheen palette also keeps the floor from bouncing screen light back up at your eyeline — which is exactly why cinemas have used patterned dark carpet for a century.

Fire rating — read this if you're finishing a basement

Class 1 fire rated and CRI Green Label Plus certified for low VOC emissions.

If your theater is in a finished basement or anywhere subject to inspection, this matters — many residential carpets are not Class 1. Building codes vary by jurisdiction and are applied inconsistently, so confirm with your local fire marshal or building inspector before installing. We can supply the manufacturer's test documentation on request.

Shipping

Broadloom ships on a 13'6" wide roll and moves as freight, not parcel. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and the quantity you order.

Before you order

Order the whole room at once. Carpet is dyed in batches, and a roll cut from a later production run will not match exactly. Ordering the full quantity in one go is the only way to guarantee a consistent floor.

Add for pattern match and waste. A patterned carpet has to line up across a seam, so the usable yardage is less than the raw square footage of your room. Tell us your dimensions and we'll do the takeoff properly rather than have you guess.
